Acephalgic or Silent Migraine
silent Migraine and acephalgic Migraine, the two mean a Migraine attack but this migraine come without headache. we can say that Any type of Migraine is acephalgic.
the phases of a Migraine attack are Prodrome, Aura, Headache and Postdrome.
Not all Migrain sufferer have all this phases, and Migraine attack can be different from the next migraine attack.
an acephalgic Migraine don’t include the headache phase. so Any type of Migraine can be acephalgic.

The other names for silent migraine:

  • eye migraine
  • painless migraine
  • ocular migraine
  • visual migraine

It is very hard to suspect the Acephalgic migraine because it comes without a headache. Some studies found that 25% of migraineurs have had a silent migraine from time to time, but as you see this migraine come without headache, so it can be misdiagnosis, if you get a headache, it is easy to be suspect the migraine, but without the headache phase, it is hard to suspect the silent migraine.

Treatment of Acephalgic migraine:
Acephalgic migraine is still basically migraine. There are many types of treatment that work for migraine, silent migraine included, but Acephalgic migraine may not require treatment at all.
To get a better understanding of silent migraine, we will look at migraine pain and aura as two distinct mechanisms.
In the past, it was thought that the migraine cause was blood flow in the brain. they thought That there is a relation between the nerve cell activity and the brain’s blood flow.
they thought that Migraine pain to be caused by blood in the brain.
Acephalgic, silent migraine causes:

  • loud noise
  • alcohol is an important migraine cause
  • bright lights
  • lack of sleep
  • caffeine
  • skipped meals
  • physical or emotional stress
  • weather and extreme cold or heat
  • hormone changes in women
  • foods which contain amino acid as aged cheese and red wine
  • nuts and chocolate
