New research showing that vitamin D deficiency is chronic migraine cause, like other serious illnesses that have a relation with the low levels of this D vitamin., like increased risk for malignancy, cardiovascular disease.
At the 50th Annual Meeting of the American Headache Society, Investigators presented the results which showed that 40% of patients with chronic migraine, the cause of their migraine was Vitamin D Deficiency.
Another study consisted of 50 people have migraines.
one of them had frequent migraine attacks and 49 had chronic migraine. The average age of them was 50 years. Vitamin D level consisted of total
-25-hydroxyvitaimin D2
-25-hydroxyvitamin D
-25-hydroxyvitamin D3.
The study showed that 41.8% of patients had levels of 30 ng/mL or less.
Of these, 27.3% had insufficient levels and 14.5% had deficient levels.
The clinicians should recognize the importance of vitamin D deficiency, and so they don’t screen for it – not just as a migraine cause, but in all of their patients. as it can be easily treated and may cause wide-ranging change in health benefits.
